Welcome home….. ?

Hey guys,
The ones who know me shouldn’t be too surprised by the fact that my last post is already quite old.But coming home after being a year abroad isn’t the same than coming home from vacation, although both is weird to me now.Now that it’s almost 2 months that I’m back,a lot of things have happened,I met most of my friends again,I’ve chosen my courses for my last two years in school,I’ve gone for my driving license,I’ve been on vacation(just came back yesterday) and today I’ve started a “PowerMaths” course to catch up with the stuff I missed in school last year.
I could write a post of 1000 words each about every topic I’ve mentioned but instead I’d like to mix everything within one post.
The gap wasn’t only in my blog, but also in my life, especially the brain.Don’t get me wrong but readjusting to a society you’ve been brought up in but which looks so weird now isn’t easy. One week after my arrival I went to a wedding in Bavaria, where I was greated with a marching band and a “white-sausage-breakfast” before being asked which kinda sausage I want using a deep bavarian accent. My driving teacher freaked out when I drove on the wrong site of the road for about 100 meteres without feeling bad.My so called mother tongue twisted my tongue more than it came out of it. Dresscodes of some people seemed quite weird and everytime I saw a girl wearing scarf or an Indian,Chinese or other Asian-looking guy a huge wave of emotions and memories swapped over me.
As expected time made me realise how much I miss the country which I called home for one year and most of all my (host)family, which absence drilled a big hole in my life and my heart.
For some of you this lines may sound “so sweet” that you can put it on your bread and eat it or fix your shoe from pasar malam with it,but I do mean it,otherwise I wouldn’t sit here having a cold, missing one of the greatest German comedian’s show and writing this.
The tracking result of my 2 parcels send by ship reminds me of the Malaysian way of life and the 18 kg at my family’s house still haven’t been send, following the motto relax lah ;)
My berlin trip with some friends of mine was fun and an adventure and the holiday in France with my family was also great.Since I seem to be magnetic to problems with my baggage,AirFrance didn’t manage to check my bag through on both flights and the lady at the check-in in Bordeaux didn’t even notice me.Luckily I was chosen as a “lucky passenger” and had to fill out a form a form asking me about my opinion.
“O happy day” and “mauvaise” (worst mark) for the “friendliness of the check-in personnel. :P
Staying close to Bordeaux, enjoying French food and wine(my secret weapon to reactivate my french) I had to make an effort to meat Claire and…. it worked out.. we met in the beautiful ( and expensive) Bordeaux, had a coffee and tested whether claire still speaks English or not.
After coming home another surprise awaited me:
 Letters,quite a number..for me!!
I’m not the kind of guy who gets lots of letters,I rather get the electronic version offering me special equipment for the world’s most exquisite fruit.Anyway some AFS-ers have thought of me,the ones in the German offices, some fellows from France and Germany and even a very thoughtful card from Penang, thanks a lot guys, the one from MAS arrived too early for my BD btw ;)
So far so good,I’m out of ideas now,I’ll try to update you more often and upload some pics.(of me cooking Malaysian food… tapi sekejap ahhh saya busy lah!! )
To all my Muslim friends down there in Malaysia and any others should you read this:
I wish  you all the best for Ramadan, strength and an early “buka puasa”.
Assalammualaikum wbt.

Yours

Manuel

P.S Should any of you be in Beijing this October, drop me a line I’ll be there and check out the Malaysian food there :P
